Shorts is a Northern Michigan staple and has gained regional recognition for their impressive craft beer menu. This local brewery has gained state and national recognition for their innovative beer names. Known for its Soft Parade, Bellaire Brown, and Huma Lupa Licious, the brew pub also offers numerous unique beers that cannot be found in stores. Try their Chocolate Wheat ale, an amazingly smooth and drinkable porter style beer. Gitchy Gitchy Ooh La La is brewed with nontraditional ingredients such as cucumber, lemon and lilac. This tasty blend creates a fun tasting experience. Shorts always has tons of new beers being added to their tap list. Make sure to save room for food, as their menu does not disappoint (our fav is the White Pepper sammy). View the complete beer menu here

My partner and I stopped in for the first time on Friday. Our reservation was ready earlier than expected which we of course loved. We got there and were instantly greeted. The place was hopping and the vibe was inclusive. Our waitress was friendly and the food was perfection. Our waitress also went out of her way to get a Soft Parade Shandy slushy taster for me when the machine started working again and I didn't feel comfortable having another full drink. Incredible beer. We have been fans for a long time. I absolutely love Shorts and will be back in the near future.

You can go here for the drinks, which are awesome. Or you could go here for the food, which is even more awesome! The only questionable thing about Shorts is the owners naming of the menu entrees. Apparently they are all titles of songs he likes. Hey, try the Sketches of Winkle, it tasted fantastic. If there's a wait to be seated, then consider sitting at the full-service bar. Shorts is a great place that won't break your wallet.

Beers, great! Food, excellent! What more could you want. Great place to visit. We liked the “tried and true” aka cheesy bread so much that we came back for it twice while visiting.

If you enjoy beer, Shorts is a bucket list stop. I stop by anytime I’m within an hours drive. On this visit I had the “Somewhere” sandwich and chips which is a basic club all plussed up with with thick cut bacon and ciabatta bread. It’s absolutely one of my favorite sandwiches I’ve had at a brewery. I paired that with a flight of beers I wanted to try (plus my favorite, their Stout). You can try any five beers on their menu in a flight for $10. The wait staff are friendly and top notch. Don’t forget to stop by their gift shop and pick up a souvenir! My favorite hat of all time came from there. It’s worth the trip!
