Castle Farms was built in 1918 as a model working dairy farm by the acting president of Sears, Roebuck & Co. Today, it offers guests the chance to stroll through a 100 years of history. Year round self-guided tours give visitors the opportunity to visit the buildings and gardens at their own pace, while summer guided tours offer a more in-depth tour full of stories and fascinating historical facts from a professional tour guide.

Families will find much to enjoy, including ponds for feeding fish and ducks, the Enchanted Forest full of gnomes, the Alphabet Garden with whimsical art, the towering Hedge Maze with overhead trains, and Norm the resident dragon. Castle Farms is home to Michigan's largest outdoor model railroad, a favorite for young and old alike. G, HO, and N-scale trains are represented in both whimsical and traditional displays. Open May-October, weather permitting, the railroad currently boasts over 70 trains and over 2500 feet of track.

Those looking for a leisurely day will enjoy the extensive museum quality collections featuring royal family memorabilia from around the world as well as the 1918 Museum. The museum is dedicated to the WWI era and showcases many items found in the Sears Roebuck catalog from that time. The acres of formal and informal gardens are a joy from late spring through fall and offer many photo opportunities.

Plan at least 2 hours for your visit, but many families spend the entire day on the grounds and bring a picnic lunch. An on-site Gift Shop will surprise you with unique items for the home, jewelry, scarves, kids castle-themed fun, books by local authors, and fairy garden accessories.

Completely restored to its original splendor Castle Farms hosts tours, weddings, and charity and corporate events.

Wow. Just wow! To start out you get to watch a video that tells you a little bit about the history and condition of the castle and property when it was purchased by the current owner. It's amazing what she has done with lots of money! I won't spoil the information you'll get on a guided tour but they spared no expense to bring this Castle to the standards of a European estate. Highly recommend paying the $20 for a guided tour... you'll get so many stories and much more information than videos that you're able to watch at each point of Interest and although the videos are well-done storytelling is always my favorite way of immersing yourself into an attraction like this.

Such a cool place! I remember passing the castle all the time as a kid when my family made yearly trips up to charlevoix but I had never gone. I recently took my 5 kids there and they loved it! Favorite part was the children's garden which had lots of different trains which was super cool. Only disappointment was that they said they had a cafe with a kids menu but when we went it was just a wine tasting counter with some sandwiches in a case. Would have been fine for me and my husband but they didn't have anything kid friendly. Had we known this we would have planned more accordingly. Since there wasn't anything to eat it rushed our trip a bit so we could get the kids something for lunch. Would have loved to do a wine tasting but again hungry kids so we finished our tour and headed out. Liked the short tram tour. It gave us some background on the history but wasn't to long so it kept our kids attention. Would definitely recommend for families but maybe pack a lunch ☺️

My daughter had her wedding at this venue. I could not have been more proud and ecstatic about the service. Everyone made her feel like a princess. Staff were extremely helpful. The venue was beautiful.

Great place to do a selfguided tour and see beautiful things. It's a wedding venue and once you see it in person you understand why. When we went it was lightly raining and they gave us half off our tickets. Beautiful castle and beautiful landscaping.

Beautiful gardens, architecture and landscaping abound at this historical site. A blend of modern history from the 70's dating back to WW II. Something for everyone to enjoy. Trains for the kids make this a magical place for them. If you need a place for a beautiful and elegant wedding reception or any very special occasion this is the perfect venue. Congratulations to the Mueller family for investing in Michigan! Truly a five star asset to our State of Michigan. My only wish...bring back the awesome concerts!!! LOL
