Castle Farms

Address
5052 M-66 North,
Charlevoix, MI 49720
Phone

Castle Farms was built in 1918 as a model working dairy farm by the acting president of Sears, Roebuck & Co. Today, it offers guests the chance to stroll through 100 years of history. Year round self-guided tours give visitors the opportunity to visit the buildings and gardens at their own pace, while summer guided tours offer a more in-depth tour full of stories and fascinating historical facts from a professional tour guide.

Families will find much to enjoy, including ponds for feeding fish and ducks, the Enchanted Forest full of gnomes, the Alphabet Garden with whimsical art, the towering Hedge Maze with overhead trains, and Norm the resident dragon. Castle Farms is home to Michigan's largest outdoor model railroad, a favorite for young and old alike. G, HO, and N-scale trains are represented in both whimsical and traditional displays. Open May-October, weather permitting, the railroad currently boasts over 70 trains and over 2500 feet of track.

Those looking for a leisurely day will enjoy the extensive museum-quality collections featuring royal family memorabilia from around the world as well as the 1918 Museum. The museum is dedicated to the WWI era and showcases many items found in the Sears Roebuck catalog from that time. The acres of formal and informal gardens are a joy from late spring through fall and offer many photo opportunities.

Plan at least 2 hours for your visit, but many families spend the entire day on the grounds and bring a picnic lunch. An on-site Gift Shop will surprise you with unique items for the home, jewelry, scarves, kids castle-themed fun, books by local authors, and fairy garden accessories.

Completely restored to its original splendor Castle Farms hosts tours, weddings, and charity and corporate events.

What a beautiful venue! We (CIGARDEN Cigar Service) had the opportunity to provide cigar services to an amazing couple as they held their wedding at the magical Castle Farms. The staff was very kind, professional, and accommodating.

Amazing place! So much thought went into the restoration of the place, the collection and placement of all the old decor, and the addition of a kids area! Walking through the whole place inside and then outside in the gardens took about two hours. Lots of walking but it was fun! Loved Norm the dragon, the old castle feel, being up on the castle wall, the pond areas, the walk through the Enchanted Forest, and the model train track. And the gal who checked us in was so knowledgeable! We loved all the info she shared with us as we asked her questions. Definitely a great place to go, wirh or without kids! And the price is good too!

Absolutely gorgeous venue! We were here for our business, BBK Leather Designs, in off season for an art show,, but it was still gorgeous with no leaves on the trees! The building is beautiful inside and out with a restaurant inside but we didn't get the chance to go! I walked around the entire castle inside and out and it has a magical feel! The stone work is utterly amazing with a mythical feel. They have dragons and serpents on the ground that are so well done. A beautiful pond as well! I did not get many pictures as I was working, but my view from my booth was this photo.

Stunning venue and grounds-I mean it’s a castle! We had an elopement type wedding for 32 people on a weekday afternoon. We were going to get married in the Queens Courtyard, but due to rain we ended up inside in Kings Galley (it was still very beautiful) Taylor was amazing to work with. She was VERY QUICK to respond to all questions and offered several suggestions-I have no doubt she would make any wedding memorable, stress free and FUN! Thank you for making sure we had a wonderful wedding day, I’m forever grateful. For anyone reading this, don’t hesitate to book them immediately!
