Address

Charlevoix, MI 49720

Castle Farms was built in 1918 as a model working dairy farm by the acting president of Sears, Roebuck & Co. Today, it offers guests the chance to stroll through 100 years of history. Year round self-guided tours give visitors the opportunity to visit the buildings and gardens at their own pace, while summer guided tours offer a more in-depth tour full of stories and fascinating historical facts from a professional tour guide.

Families will find much to enjoy, including ponds for feeding fish and ducks, the Enchanted Forest full of gnomes, the Alphabet Garden with whimsical art, the towering Hedge Maze with overhead trains, and Norm the resident dragon. Castle Farms is home to Michigan's largest outdoor model railroad, a favorite for young and old alike. G, HO, and N-scale trains are represented in both whimsical and traditional displays. Open May-October, weather permitting, the railroad currently boasts over 70 trains and over 2500 feet of track.

Those looking for a leisurely day will enjoy the extensive museum-quality collections featuring royal family memorabilia from around the world as well as the 1918 Museum. The museum is dedicated to the WWI era and showcases many items found in the Sears Roebuck catalog from that time. The acres of formal and informal gardens are a joy from late spring through fall and offer many photo opportunities.

Plan at least 2 hours for your visit, but many families spend the entire day on the grounds and bring a picnic lunch. An on-site Gift Shop will surprise you with unique items for the home, jewelry, scarves, kids castle-themed fun, books by local authors, and fairy garden accessories.

Completely restored to its original splendor Castle Farms hosts tours, weddings, and charity and corporate events.

Visiting Castle Farms was well worth it! My wife and I had a great experience. The grounds are meticulously maintained, the restoration of the castle and the history of the renovation, shown in a 10 minute video, was fascinating. There are tons of artifacts and items that Linda Mueller collected over the years from items purchased from a Sears catalog to wedding cake toppers. I have never seen so many wedding toppers. The rock and roll history of the site (early to mid 80s), prior to the restoration, is very interesting as well. To see ticket prices for less than $20 was comical compared to what it cost now days to attend a concert. It is also a fantastic venue for a wedding and reception. There is also a very big display of small model trains running around tracks. Kids will love the display. We had a lot of fun visiting and highly recommend it for families. The cost pretty much goes towards maintaining the venue and it is well worth it.

Castle Farms - what a delight! The architecture is intriguing, especially with the history behind it all. The tour is well worth the small fee. The history of the transformation from Albert Loeb's working farm to what now is Linda Mueller's Castle Farms was absolutely intriguing! I do not remember the exact details but I do recollect Linda Mueller bought the farm for $300,000 invested over 1.5 million! 😳 Upon giving only $25 for over-an-hour Tram guided tour (the ride was a short portion of the tour) I was fascinated by the history of the place; not only the history, also the stonework is architectural beauty! 🤩 The buildings/ surroundings visited with the tour include: the King's East Garden Room, East Garden, Butterfly Garden, Reflection Pond and Sid the Sea Monster, Octagonal Gazebo, Serenity Garden, The Dragon's Lair, Queen's Castle Tower, and Queen's Courtyard. 😍 This delightful venue is a huge place for weddings and other social events. There's just too much information to share here, so I highly suggest visiting the majestic Castle Farms. ❤

A beautiful historic place to visit. The tour guides provide history and insight to the owners and uses of the property over the years and to the extensive restoration efforts required to make it the beautiful venue it is today for weddings and receptions.

Amazing place to visit in Charlevoix, MI! You can do a self-guided tour of the grounds and castle, but the guided tour gives you the detailed history and stories about the previous and current owner. The grounds are spectacular! They also have a winery on the grounds as well.
