FolkLor Wine and Cider creates delicious wines and ciders start in the field with healthy soil, well cared-for plants, and a thriving ecosystem. It's part of their winemaking philosophy too - to let the fruit shine and add or take away as little as possible on its journey to the bottle. Their wines and ciders reflect the liquid landscape of Northern Michigan and everything it has to offer. You can also find them at the Downtown Charlevoix Farmers Market every Thursday June through September.

FolkLor was started by husband and wife, Derrick Vogel & Izabela Babinska, two Northern Michigan enthusiasts, lake swimmers and dry Riesling devotees.

Stopped by for a wine and cider tasting and a tour and had a blast. The tastings were delicious and learning about them, from growing to fermenting, was even more enjoyable. In my tour I learned a lot about the history of their property and their organic farming. Iza and Derrick also showed how passionate, knowledgeable, and excited they are about growing and creating exciting drinks. I’ll be coming back again and will recommend this to everyone.

Absolutely worth the drive! Excellent wines that would satisfy any taste. My favorites were the Ode to Home cider (very unique combo of fermented apple and grape) and the Icebox Rose. The selection of Riesling was amazing. The highlight of the experience, though, was the private tour with Derrick. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and those are surpassed only by his passion for his craft. The tour added immensely to an already great time and I would recommend it to anyone who loves Northern Michigan, wine and cider, or just a good time with awesome hosts.

My husband and I loved our experience in October 2023! The ciders and wines were delicious and not your average wines/ciders that you see at other places. The flavors were unique in taste and I recommend the 2020 Ice Box Gris! 🤩 Izabela and Derrick have created a place that is inviting and unique compared to other wineries. I will definitely be coming back!

This place is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Great wines and a great welcome from the owner. Look for the sign as GPS takes you to a house next to the actual business. Enjoy!
