This is a good Mexican joint, has good options for adults and kids. They charge for chips and salsa… what’s that? They have a small batch soda company supplying the Pop. Kids menu has enough to satisfy most children. The atmosphere is good.

This photo is NOT what the food looks like anymore. This is from years ago when I had a Steak and Morel mushroom burrito and it was the best burrito I've ever had. This past weekend we made our yearly voyage to the Red Mesa during the Morel Festival. I was so enthusiastic to get that burrito again. Well, strike 1 was the chips and salsa. They now charge for them which is no big deal, but the chips were chewy and the salsa was ice cold. The combo was terrible! Strike 2 was they no longer offer the Morel burrito but they will sell you a handheld steak burrito with a 12 dollar upcharge for morel mushrooms on the side. I opted to go for it and all I can say is 100% yuck! Terrible! I had to order burrito sauce which was terrible as well. Strike 3 was the rest of my family's food was terrible.as well. The final nail in the coffin was when they sat us down next to a table with 5 little screaming kids. They clearly had many more tables available but chose to put us in the Romper Room section. Will NEVER be back to the Red Mesa. You guys clearly have slid downhill and charge dearly for that garbage.

Very good dinning experience. More american than authentic Mexican food, although, good food (I ordered shredded beef tacos.) They were loaded up with plenty of juicy/tender meant & toppings. The salsa tasted homemade. Service was spot on. I would definitely go back next time I'm in Boyne City.

I wish I could give it a 10! I love Mexican food, but having visited many regions of Mexico for work over the years, I KNOW good Mexican food. And although Red Mesa does still have small American twists to their food, it is GLORIOUS! The carnitas, shredded chicken and shredded beef were all mouth watering. The beans and rice are also very flavorful. We had the 3 enchilada and 3 taco meals. The meats are so well seasoned. The portion size are great. The food is fresh and the prices are on point for the quality of food. We live in Gaylord and have been going to a local (better than average) Mexican restaurant, but this is our new go-to by far. We plan to try the Red Mesa in Boyne as well. The ambiance is on point and the service was good. Be sure to try Red Mesa; your money will be well spent!
