A Spring Wildflower Walk with Sarah Koetje and Sarah Mayhew
Blooming Beauties invites participants to join the educators of Little Big: Nature & Adventure‑Based Learning for an immersive wander through the awakening hardwood forests of Northern Michigan. As the last traces of snow melt into the soil, a hidden world emerges—spring ephemerals, the early‑rising wildflowers that define our region’s transition into spring.
This program offers a chance to slow down and notice the small, fleeting wonders of the forest floor—often called the “miracles in the mulch”—that appear only briefly each year before the forest canopy fills in.
What to Expect:
A slow‑paced, observational hike focused on noticing early spring wildflowers
Exploration of rolling terrain beneath budding beech and maple trees
Guidance from experienced outdoor educators who will help identify and interpret wildflowers and forest ecology
Time to observe, photograph, sketch, or journal discoveries
A relaxed, curiosity‑driven experience with opportunities for conversation and quiet noticing
