ZINE WORKSHOP: BE YOUR OWN PUBLISHER! Ages 10 & up JUNE 18, 2026 Thursday 1 - 4pm REGISTER BY: June 16th CLASS FEE: $40, or $36 for members FORMAT: in-person Be Your Own Publisher: How to Make a Zine with artist Jasmine Lace Petrie. Part creative writing, part collage, 100% DIY! One of the great analog arts, modern Zines (rhymes with beans) are generally understood to have started back in the 1930’s in the form of sci-fi fanzines as folks compiled and traded musings about their favorite science fiction. DIY Zine creation has been bubbling along under the radar for a long time, and you, too can go pre-digital to share the spark inside you! Zines are great for sharing with friends or family, anonymously hiding for strangers to find, or creating chapbooks for wider distribution. Join this class to share your spark! In this workshop, students will create their own eight-page Zine out of a single piece of paper. The contents of your zines are entirely open ended – it can be poetry, tutorial, collage, sketches, etc. Bring ideas with you – including any writings or imagery you might want to include (not required, but helpful). All supplies are provided.
