4th of July Events in Northern Michigan

The fourth of July is almost here! It’s time to ring in our nation’s birthday with fireworks, cookouts, and backyard games. This year, come celebrate the 4th up North! Many Northern Michigan communities are hosting a variety of holiday activities, all culminating with a dazzling display of fireworks that are sure to light up the night sky!

East Jordan
The Freedom Festival happens at the end of June. This event features a carnival, parades, kids' games, old-fashioned block party, sporting contests, live music and a gorgeous display of fireworks over the south arm of Lake Charlevoix at dusk.

Boyne City
On July 4th, Boyne City offers an Art and Craft Show, carnival, parade, volleyball tournament, and live music in Rotary Park. The fireworks display will be July 4th at dusk over Lake Charlevoix.

Bay Harbor
Visit the Village at Bay Harbor and enjoy an amazing show by the Petoskey Steel Drum Band, as well as balloon twisting, face painting, and fun with Jania Taylor beginning July 3rd at 8pm. The fireworks show will commence at dusk on the 3rd, so be sure to claim your seat early. There is also an exciting parade for the whole family at 11am on July 4th.

Petoskey
Petoskey celebrates the 4th of July with a star-studded display of dazzling vocalists and instrumentalists performing an uplifting mix of spirituals, folk music, and American patriotic songs in a program for the whole family. The music performances will be held at  Bay View's John Hall Auditorium. Fireworks can be viewed from downtown Petoskey on July 4th at dusk over the Little Traverse Bay.

Beaver Island
Escape the crowds and head over to Beaver Island. Island festivities include a family-friendly carnival and 4th of July island parade. Enjoy fireworks over Paradise Bay from Whiskey Point, the Public Beach, the porch of the Beachcomber, your boat, or pretty much anywhere with a view of the sky over the bay. It’s a great way to enjoy a 4th of July Celebration, Beaver Island Style!
