We made a bar reservation at 6:45 for 3 on July 23rd, my husband, myself and our 6 year old son. No where on line did it specify that it was actual seats at the bar, we thought it was a table in the bar area. It also didn't specify that we all needed to be 21. We arrived for our reservation to be told of the situation. We asked if we could still keep our reservation and sit with our son at the bar. The hostess said she would go ask the bartender. The answer we got was unexpected. The bartender said no since our son wouldn't be drinking alcohol, he would make less tip money wasting a seat on him. I logically understand that as I was raised by a restaurant manager and waited tables and bar tended for many years. However, how did the bartender know we were drinking at all or how did he determine our tipping status? Either way, not a good look or business practice. We were also not offered an alternative option. I hope in the future that you fix your reservation system and do better training with your staff on how to treat customers.
I actually tried to handle this situation by emailing the restaurant before I posted on social media. 5 days later, no response.
We ended up with an amazing meal at City Park Grill with amazing service. Where we tipped our server 30% of a bill with drinks, appetizers, meals and desserts.
