Summer

Summer in Charlevoix is the very best. Warm temps, lots of beaches, lots of great events, miles of trails, sandy beaches, and more await you in Charlevoix the beautiful.

  1. Try a sweet treat or two
We will be the first to admit we LOVE sweet treats! Charlevoix is host to great desserts, baked goods, fudge, ice cream, even more ice cream, and more. You’re very likely to find us eating ice cream in the Visitor Center for research and development. Whether you’re looking for soft-served or hard-packed ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, or something else entirely, you will find so many tasty options in Charlevoix.
  2. Sweet smells of lavender
Tucked in Charlevoix county’s winding countryside, Lavender Hill Farm is a hidden gem. The farm is one of Michigan’s biggest lavender farms with sweeping fields of purple that are truly spectacular with relaxing aromatic smells. Another great bonus about this attraction, is they host a great variety of events and classes for all ages.
  3. Livin’ the water life
It’s no secret that Charlevoix has tremendous beaches and we encourage visitors to experience the natural beauty of our fresh water. Whether you choose to swim, kayak, stand up paddle board, boat, or some other activity altogether, you’ve got to experience our great lakes unsalted water.
  4. Get outdoors and sightsee
Northern Michigan has numerous biking and walking trails that connect many different sections of the area together. Non-motorized, multi-purpose trails can be used for running, hiking, bicycling, and in-line skating. Learn more about Charlevoix recreation opportunities here.
  5. Take the kids on a great adventure
If you’re traveling with kids, we’ve got several recommendations just for you! Stop by Friske’s Farm Market to experience a fun barnyard petting zoo, orchard tour, and wagon ride. Enjoy a bike ride along the Lake to Lake Trail or explore the trails at Fisherman's Island State Park.
  6. Hit the Links
Charlevoix is home to some of the Midwest's most notable golf, from a nine-hole municipal course designed in 1896 by Willie Watson, to the prestigious course that has hosted the Michigan Amateur.  Regardless of your budget or skill level, you'll be sure to find a course to satisfy your golfing itch!
